Proven healing properties of the negative ions:

•       The amount ofa bigger quantity negative ions in the blood leads to a faster oxydation of the serotonin with the following positive effects on the central nerve system.
•       They increase the capacity of absorption of the oxygen by quickening the process of its transportation to the cells and their kernels.

•       The therapeutic activity of the negative ions is very strong in colds, sinusitis, bronchial asthma, allergies, migraines, birth-pains and post operational pains.

•       They normalize the arterial pressure, they slow down the frequency of the cardiac rhythm, they raise the reflex activity of the nerve cells and muscles.

•       They improve the general condition, the appetite, the sleep, the physical and mental ability for work.

•They raise the stability of organism to unfavorable factors of the environment and stimulate the resistance of the organism to harmful influences.
•       The negative ions control the automatic nerve system, too and the balance between the insulin and adrenalin that provides strong immune resistance.
•       They improve the self-confidence and the mood, they heal headache and overfatigue, they quicken the assimilation of vitamins, improve the reflexes and increase the ability for concentration.

•       They kill bacteria and viruses.

Tchiprovski waterfall

Except for its unique woven carpets and stormy historical past the town ot Tchiprovtsi attracts the visitors with a very nice natural place of interest – the Tchiprovski waterfall.
It is among the most beautiful and deep waterfalls in Bulgaria. It is formed on the river Stara reka and its height is 20 m. At its foot the water forms a little lake.
The march is easy but long. The total distance to the waterfall and back can be walked for 4-5 hours together with the rests and the visit of the cascade.

You can reach the waterfall by the ecopath “Deyanitsa”. To reach its beginning you have to go to the South end of the town and to continue your way on a bumpy asphalt road. After 2 km you can park your car and set out on another road on the left side that slightly and diagonally goes up the Balkan and leads to a wood. You can see at some places little signboards that mark the direction of the waterfall. Before long you will reach a fountain with a built table and several chairs made from trunks. This is the beginning of an ecopath “Deyanitsa” that will take you off to the waterfall.

The route steepens and over the little bridges you can pass from the one to the other bank of the river Stara reka. The nature in the region is fantastically beautiful, there are many wild plants. On different places along the path there are information signboards about the forest and the plants in the region.
The river is relatively deep so this natural phenomenon can be visited in every season.
Local mountain guides offer many routes for walking on foot and getting to know tourism in the region.
Some of them include a visit to the Koprenski waterfalls and to the top Tri chuki.
Except for the unique beautiful waterfall near the town of Tchiprovtsi you can visit the famous Tschiprovski monastery “St Ivan Rilsky” and a few kilometers away is the interesting Lopushansky monastery where you can see unique icons made by the Samokovska school.
You can also visit the Historical museum, along with the natural places of interest. There you can feel the revolutionary and the craft spirit of the town, known in the past for the manufacture of unique carpets, golden ornaments and cutlery exported all around Western Europe.

In short, to capture the movement of the water slowly:
1. Put the camera on a stable base (easel, obligatory).
2. Compose the picture that you want to capture.
3. Change the settings of the camera so that the speed of taking pictures (shutter speed) to be of the order of ¼ second, ½ second or 1 second.
4. Set up the camera to shoot with a slow motion or use a remote control.
5. Shoot, make a preview and if necessary shoot again with different speed or composition.
The effect of the blurred water is very attracting and it is possible you to want to take pictures only this way. Try shooting in different speeds. Sometimes the pictures are wonderful by freezing the movement of the water – wonderful forms, splashes and effect of movement of the photos.
The blurred ethereal water gives calmness and the frozen splashes of the water give dynamics, activity and greatness. The freezing of the water is very effective for waterfalls with turbulent water and many splashes.
Usually close to the waterfalls there are zones with many splashes, water vapour and a wind because of the falling water, so take with you cleaning wipes that will help you to remove the drops and the damp from the objective and other parts of the camera. The damp is dangerous for the simple cameras that are not hermetically closed and can damage the electronics.
When you put the easel make sure that it is well standing on the stones or in the river. Very often when you are not careful and a light pushing the camera may fall in the water so you will have to buy another. That`s enough theoretically – it is time to shoot because the many pictures you are taking, the better in shooting you will be and you will feel the composition, the light and the effect that you want to achieve.

ISO setting ( ISO ) for the sensibility of the sensor

Make sure that you have set the camera shooting with the lowest possible level of sensibility (ISO 100, ISO 80), otherwise the sensor will be too sensible to light and the photos will light up (pre-exponate) too much or you will not be able to shoot at slow speed.
Most cameras are set up to measure the surrounding  light by zonal matrix metering  (matrix metering) and this is good because the pictures will be with a balanced exposition of the whole frame but there is a possibility the white parts of the water to “burn”.
For to have good pictures of blurred and ethereal water it is necessary to switch on the camera to measure the light with priority the central (center-weighted metering) or local metering of the  light (spot metering).
This way the camera will set up the settings according to the illumination of the water of the waterfall and will cause pre-exponation   (burning) of the places with water.
Usually this setting will make the frame illuminated in the object and not well illuminated in the corners of the picture. In this case you can make two photos with different exposition – according to the object/waterfall and according to the neighbourhood of the object/waterfall and then – in the photo`s processing software for unifying the both pictures in one.

Composing the pictures:

The waterfalls and the moving water as a whole can be shot from different angles and perspectives – with wide range lens, that include the whole waterfall in the picture or tele lens that include only concrete objects (a stone with a leaf on the water, etc.).
In many cases the waterfall is the most enlightened part of the picture and it will draw the attention by all means.
If you want to avoid the monotony in the pictures you have to play with the compositions that include an object in first plan as a stone or a group of stones, flower, fallen tree, whirlpool or simply the white water of a stream of the river.
Before taking the shooting position you have to study the situation that you are trying to capture from several points of view. Not always the most direct position opposite the object is the best and you risk taking absolutely identic and monotony pictures as most of the tourists visiting the waterfall.
Sometimes you have to wade in the water to put the easel and the camera in the water. When taking such pictures it is good to compose the picture with an object in front – a stream, a stone or a fallen tree and in the background - itself and the surrounding nature. Look for different variants for the stream of the flow and its branching, at some places it flows faster and at some places - slower, at some places the rocks are with different colours and green moss. Often the waterfalls where the water flow is branching and flows in different curved trajectories look more effective and are more beautiful than waterfalls with direct water flow.
You can try to take a picture slightly in the direction of the light coming from the sun - sometimes this method of taking pictures gives very good results. The light reflects form the splashes of the waterfall and makes contrast with the surrounding nature.

Neutral density filter (ND)
Except for the camera and easel there are other elements included in the necessary equipment for taking pictures of the waterfalls.
In bright sunny days when we are taking pictures at low speed in the camera comes a great quantity of light and the photos are often pre-exponated.
For to reduce the quantity of light that comes in the camera you can use neutral gray density filter (ND), most often with function of darkening  (f-stop) 6 or 8.
Тhis filter can be used in combination with polarizing filter that, on its turn, will remove the reflection on the surface of the water, leaves and other reflecting the light surfaces.
Reducing the light that comes into the lens of the camera will give you the possibility to use lower speed of taking pictures - this what you need for the effect milky ethereal water.
